Ashleworth Primary offers new residents a warm welcome

Buyers of a new home on Redcliffe Homes' Nup End Green development will get a very special welcome when they move in, thanks to pupils at Ashleworth Church of England Primary School.

The children at the school have been busy designing moving-in cards for a competition set by Redcliffe Homes, with the three winners and three runners-up all having their pictures turned into cards, which will be given to new buyers.

Headteacher Michelle Kelly said, "These new homes in the village are the first to be built for a long time so have sparked a lot of interest in the community, including with the children. They were delighted to be involved with welcoming the buyers of these new homes to our community. It's lovely to think that one of the first impressions our new neighbours will get is a warm welcome from the community's children."

Every single one of the school's 40 pupils were involved in the competition, with Redcliffe bringing in all the card and colouring pencils they needed to complete their works of art. Representatives of the company then judged the cards and awarded prizes to winners and runners-up in Years 1&2, Years 3&4 and Years 5&6. Each winner received a book token for £30 and each runner-up a book token for £20; the prizes were presented by Lorraine Kendrick and Mandy Parker from Redcliffe's Marketing & Sales team.

Afterwards, the Redcliffe team were delighted when one pupil, Daisy Perry in Year 6, chose to write a thank you letter to the company and took it to the site herself. "This was something Daisy did entirely unprompted and reflects what a positive impression Redcliffe made at the school - they were lovely to deal with," said Mrs Kelly.

Mrs Kelly added, "The new houses may mean we have one or two new children joining our school, which means they will already have been welcomed by another pupil, which is a lovely way to start."
