Perfect homes for later life

Perfect homes for later life

A collection of individually designed homes for later life have just been released for sale within the Redcliffe Homes development in the Wiltshire village of Pewsey.

Whatley Mews is the last phase to be built and features just 11 homes arranged around a communal garden, all earmarked for people over 55.  Buyers will own their properties outright, and still enjoy the services of a management company to care for the central gardens and other communal areas.

Unlike many other similar schemes, homeowners at Whatley Mews will have total independence within their own freehold homes, at the same time benefitting from becoming part of a community of similarly independent homeowners, and the security that offers.

With seven different house types, Redcliffe has designed these homes as the perfect place to downsize and release capital for retirement without compromising on quality of life.

Lorraine Kendrick, sales and marketing manager of Redcliffe Homes, said: “These properties are ideal for older homebuyers seeking an elegant new home in a beautiful location.

“Interest has already been expressed by city dwellers looking for a rural retreat, by empty-nesters wanting to relocate – some of whom wish to be closer to family members – and even by expats seeking a bolt-hole when revisiting the UK.”

Purchasers can choose from two- or three-bedroom designs, allowing space for visits from the grandchildren or a spare room for a hobby or study.

Designed to be low-maintenance, the houses are also suitable for those who will spend limited amounts of the year in Wiltshire while they enjoy winter sunshine elsewhere on cruises or at a second home.

There are allocated parking spaces and the communal garden can be enjoyed by residents for relaxation, without the worries of having to maintain it.

Each home has been designed with the latest labour-saving and energy efficiency methods in mind, but with the design and looks of traditional English village homes.

Because they are new and energy-efficient, running costs are low compared to older houses and maintenance is easy in these high-spec homes.

Lorraine Kendrick said: “Pewsey is ideally located for enjoying the wider Wiltshire countryside with delightful countryside walks directly accessible from the new homes and great footpaths along the neighbouring Marlborough Downs and the Vale of Pewsey itself which will prove irresistible to keen walkers.”

Pewsey village centre is also just a short stroll away, offering a good selection of independent shops, plus a mainline rail station allowing access to London in just an hour.

Every new home is covered by Redcliffe Homes’ own two year warranty, as well as the standard 10 year NHBC warranty giving complete peace of mind.
