Mental Health charity Wiltshire Mind has expressed its gratitude to independent house builder Redcliffe Homes for its donation of £5,000. Redcliffe, which builds desirable homes in the most sought-after locations in the South West, donates a percentage of all its house sales each year to charities selected by its staff.
Wiltshire Mind is entirely self-funded and needs £200,000 a year to operate. It provides seven peer support groups across Wiltshire, as well as a new group focusing on the military and civilian community in the Tidworth area. There is also a group for carers of those with mental health challenges and an evening group for those unable to attend during the day but who need support to help them stay in work. The Charity also provides a 1-1 counselling service for adults which runs 5 days a week and 3 evenings. In response to local need, Wiltshire Mind has opened a Young People's Counselling Service for those 11+ and also a counselling service for the Polish community in Trowbridge. Carolyn Beale, Chief Executive of Wiltshire Mind, said:
"The national Mind charity is a campaigning organisation and does not contribute to the 121 local Mind charities across the country, all of which are self-funding. We are able to generate some income through our training for businesses, such as mental health awareness courses, mindfulness sessions and Mental Health First Aid course, but we rely heavily on the generosity of local people and companies to continue our work. Therefore, we're very grateful to Redcliffe for choosing us and helping us to continue delivering our critically important services to local people."
The money was raised through sales at Redcliffe's developments in Ashleworth and Corsham. Nup End Green in Ashleworth is a bespoke development of 35 three, four and five bedroom homes. The homes are all energy efficient and whilst traditional in design externally, internally each home provides a range of finishes, kitchens and bathrooms that exude quality. Ashleworth is a beautiful rural setting yet with easy access to Gloucester, Cheltenham, Hereford and the M50. The Park Place development of two, three, four and five bedroom homes is in a charming rural setting a stone's throw from the beautiful historic market town of Corsham - a real hidden gem, full of character.
Lorraine Kendrick, Marketing & Sales Manager, from Redcliffe Homes commented:
"We're a very community-focused company and Wiltshire Mind is an equally community-focused charity, so our employees feel a real connection to the work they do. We care deeply about our employees and want them to know there are places they can go - such as Wiltshire Mind - at times when they may be struggling with their own mental health. We are proud to support the work of Wiltshire Mind."
