New play area wins Mayoral approval

A brand-new play area was given the seal of approval by Chippenham town Mayor when he declared it officially open at Rowden Brook, Rowden Park Garden Village.

Councillor Conor Melvin cut the ribbon at the official opening ceremony of the play area and open space of the Pudding Lane Play Area, along with Tom O’Connor, Managing Director and Jon Burcombe, Development Director of Redcliffe Homes.

The centre-piece of the play area is a multi-use basketball court, with recessed goal ends which enable it to easily be adapted for a range of ball games.

The green space around the court features a range of different play equipment including several swings, springer toys, multi-play units and a cable way, providing a variety of activities for children of different ages, in addition to a cycle stand and several benches, making it the perfect place for families and friends to enjoy together.

Rowden Park Garden Village is a new community being created by South West-based independent housebuilder Redcliffe Homes, which will feature more than 450 properties.

Rowden Brook is the first phase of the Garden Village, which is surrounded by beautiful views of the open countryside yet sits just a short walk from Chippenham.

Tom O’Connor said: “We were delighted that the Mayor kindly agreed to officially open the play area.

“The garden city concept was initiated by Ebenezer Howard, and English planner and founder of the Garden City movement.

“He felt that the garden city should combine the very best of town and country living to create beautiful, well-planned, healthy and vibrant communities.

“In many ways, his concept pioneered today’s principles of a sustainable development with a more contemporary application – the Garden Village.

“With the thriving market town centre of Chippenham just a short walk away, our Rowden Park Garden Village really does offer the very best of town and country living.

“In addition to designing and building desirable and individual homes, one of the ways in which true communities are created is through the provision of communal open spaces, like this new play area, bringing people together in pleasant and safe environment in the heart of the development.

“Youngsters can enjoy all the play equipment while their parents and grandparents can enjoy the green space and plants; people of all generations can enjoy this pleasant community space.”

The new Rowden Park Play Area will be looked after by property management specialists Remus, who have proven experience of nurturing public open spaces to help encourage thriving communities.

Redcliffe Homes has recently launched Lackham Place, the latest phase of the Rowden Park Garden Village, featuring a new collection of individually designed two, three and four-bedroom homes.
